Google has launched Google +1 button, which is like the Facebook Like button. It will help the consumers find out if a particular page has been liked by their friends too. If a user is signed in to his Google account, he marks this +1 button for a page, then, while his friends are searching the same category of pages, they will be able to see the annotations suggesting who all liked that page.

This could be a tool for Google to find out which all pages have the quality content and which all don't. More +1, means more quality content. This could well be a parameter for page ranking.

How will it affect the user?

This will help the user to save time while searching for a particular service, he will be able to straightaway go to the link in search results which has maximum annotations. More importantly, having annotation on a page means the page has been searched and recommended.

How can webmasters use this new feature?

Adding the +1 button to your site is very simple

STEP 1

A general coding may be, to be placed in the head or before the close of the body

<script type="text/javascript" src="https://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js"></script>

STEP 2

<!- Place this tag where you want the +1 button to render ->

<g:plusone></g:plusone>

STEP 3

while using HTML5, follow the below coding

<script  src="https://apis.google.com/js/plusone.js"></script>

STEP 4

It takes parameters also, the first parameter is size which may be "small," "medium," "standard," or "tall".

to get one of these sizes

<g:plusone size="standard" count="true"></g:plusone>

The count parameter tells Google if you would like to tell to user how many times a button has been clicked. For more information on this click.

This can change the ways pages are ranked today, and the page ranking will be more meaningful to the users as well. As they will also be able to see that a page will 2 annotations should come after pages with 3 annotations.

It's a beginning of new Google Feature, and time will tell how it works. Because the company is Google, it could be interesting to see what follows.
